About me
Dr. Mónica Gandía Gómez (1973, Valencia, Spain) completed her Ph. D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (University of Valencia) in 2003, specializing herself in phytopathology under the direction of Dr. Nuria Duran-Vila in the Valencian Institute for Agricultural Research (IVIA, Valencia, Spain). She obtained a postdoctoral contract in the same institute where, from 2003 since 2007, she extended her scientific formation in functional genomics taking part of Citrus Functional Genomics Project (CFGP;http://citrusgenomics.ibmcp-ivia.upv.es). Later, she joined at Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology (IATA-CSIC) in 2008 with a Postdoctoral JAE-DOC-CSIC contract in Postharvest Physiology and Biotechnology group. She continued her research at Proteins and Bioactive Peptides group in the same Institution until January 2021. She holds the positive assesment of the Incentive Program for the Incorporation and Intensification of Research Activity (I3 Program) since 2019. Dr. Gandía has participated in 20 competitive Research Projects, including two European Research Projects. She has published 45 research articles, 40 of them in peer-reviewed SCI journals and nowadays she has an H index of 22. Currently, she holds a position as Associate Profesor at the University of Valencia and her research is oriented towards the use of natural alternatives for the control of fungal spoilage in food, as well as fermentative processes to improve sustainability and health.
